Hello everyone! My name is Geraldine Benzon, from Toronto Ontario, Canada. I’m married and blessed with a wonderful son. I am originally from the Philippines where I worked as a teacher.

Back in 2005, my husband and I both applied for job overseas. I was hired first and took the opportunity to work in Hong Kong as a nanny.

Sadly, I had to leave my son when he was 2 yrs old in the sole care of my husband. We kept in close contact to ward off my homesickness. I lived and worked in Hong Kong for more than a year.

Back then, I had a big dream to work and bring my family to Canada. During my days off, I sent resumes online to different employers in Canada. I was determined and kept my faith strong.

Fast forward, I got hired! One of my close friends recommended me to a beautiful family who lives here in Toronto and I came to work as a caregiver in 2007. I was so happy and excited for the new job because it was a dream come true just when my contract in Hong Kong was about to expire!

I flew directly to Toronto. I didn’t get to go back to the Philippines to see my family, because I didn’t have enough money for plane ticket.

I really missed them, especially my young son. I was breaking my heart. But being a strong mother and wife I had to overcome all the trials.

Now, I am so happy and overwhelmed that I have finally brought my family to Canada. It took me 5 yrs!

Life here in Canada is very expensive, especially in the city. I’m working as Personal Support Worker and also as a personal driver.

I’ve been searching for home-based work to replace my weekend job, so that I can have more time bonding with my family and for myself. I tried different things but, unfortunately, they weren’t right for me. Then, recently I saw an ad in my newsfeed.

At first, I just ignored it because of my frustrations before. But everyday popped up, another ad, the same concept but a different person!
